Belarus to raise basic unit by 5 pct

MINSK, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) — Belarus will raise its basic unit by 5 percent starting from Jan. 1, 2025, the press service of the government said on Monday.
The basic unit will increase from 40 to 42 Belarusian rubles (12.9 U.S. dollars), according to a resolution signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
This adjustment will impact allowances, scholarships, taxes and fees, fines, and other payments tied to the basic unit.
The last change to the basic unit occurred on Jan. 1, 2024, when it was increased from 37 to 40 rubles (12.28 dollars). ■
